Make it make sense…

For years, social media was flooded with fear and people telling everyone else what they should or shouldn’t do with their own bodies. Don’t eat this. Don’t do that. Follow this rule. Get vaccinated or you’re putting someone else’s grandma at risk. Families were told they couldn’t even sit beside their loved ones in nursing homes because it was considered too unsafe.

At the same time, we hear “my body, my choice.”

Okay. Then where exactly is the line between bodily autonomy, personal responsibility, and how our choices affect everyone around us?

And now we have a woman who literally shit herself and continued on, and people are praising her for pushing through.

I’m sorry, but no. 😂

Last Friday, Travis and I dealt with a situation involving two of our kids and poop, and let me tell you — it was UTTERLY disgusting. We teach our children basic hygiene. We don’t teach them that spreading feces around is admirable because they were committed to finishing what they started.

There’s perseverance, and then there’s “please go clean yourself up.”

We have gotten so determined to celebrate absolutely everything as empowering, brave, or inspirational that sometimes basic common sense gets left behind.

You can admire determination and still say, “Girl, go wash your ass.”

Both things can be true. 😂

And if you feel this take is disempowering, you are absolutely entitled to that opinion. We can agree to disagree.

Amen. 🙏🏻 💩
